The catalogue of the same name exhibition held at The Metropolitan Museum in New York in 2016 is a wondrous survey of the “unfinished” concept throughout art history. From Renaissance to the present times, artists have worked with this idea, more or less intentionally; from Leonardo to contemporary artists such as Richter and Lygia Clark, who have played with the non-finito and with the idea of non-making. The book shows the reader the history of this compelling art theme and how it has been shaped throughout different times and situations.
